The Wild Toledo
The Wild Toledo in the City of Toledo is a department in the zoo, which emphasizes local conservation efforts and scientific research. Re-introducing hellbenders to their native habitat in southeastern Ohio, releasing thousands of monarch butterflies for fall migration, rear the federally endangered Mitchell’s satyr butterfly, restore native prairie habitat in urban Toledo, conduct research on the spatial ecology and population dynamic of several species of threatened turtles, conduct health assessments and vaccinations of local mesopredators, research the movement and presence/absence of native Ohio wildlife with trail cameras, conduct vegetation analysis on ecosystems around the region and work to support and restore native pollinators is the work of the conservation department. A three summer field camp is organized with goals targeted at 10-13 year olds who are interested in field research and conservations. Wild Toledo also partners with different educational facilities within northwest Ohio where native prairies are installed and interpreted for students.

My physical therapists, Colleen and Lauren, were very helpful in showing me the exercises I needed to regain my strength and making sure I understood how to do them. My occupational therapists, Melissa and Danielle, were also helpful in instructing me in ways I could strengthen and regain the use of my left hand. Each of these wonderful ladies who helped me were very professional and friendly, and always willing to take the time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions.
I want to thank Melissa, Lauren, and Heather, for always being here for me, and giving me great care. By me being new to the state I was having lots of anxieties, and my team was great, always on time and willing to lend a helping hand if needed. Thank you Med 1 for everything.
My Physical Therapists Stu and Colleen have been beyond my expectations. They explained everything in detail. My care plan was individualized. I didn’t feel rushed. They took me from being immobile to mobile. I am very grateful! My occupational therapists Melissa and Vicky and Nurse Nicole were also exceptional. They also explained everything in detail. He’s in really good hands and I’m so appreciative of all the hard work of the staff. Thanks Charlie…you really are the best!!!
I just want to say how Terrific Holly is. She put me through my paces in a kind but firm way. I will miss our sessions together. Please tell her I will continue to work hard. And I grew very fond of her, even if I had to be ready at 8:00 am. 😅 it was worth it.
